Carbon Trust 0% loans for energy saving lighting

As well as the supply and install of energy saving lighting, as part of the our project services we can apply for an interest-free loan from the Carbon Trust on behalf of your business.

A 0% loan will eliminate the upfront cost barriers for a new energy efficient lighting system. The monthly savings from lower energy consumption can completely cover the loan repayments, actually generating a positive monthly cash flow.

Further options

Overview:
  • UK-based Small and Medium Businesses (SMEs) can apply for interest-free loans from £3,000 to £100,000
  • The loans are unsecured, have no arrangement fees and are repayable to the Carbon Trust across a 1-4 year period.
  • When the loan covers the complete cost of new lighting, the monthly loan repayments should be less than value of the monthly energy savings made

How is the loan amount calculated?
  • The amount loaned is directy proportional to projected carbon savings
  • The qualifying carbon threshold is £1000 of loan for each 2.5 tonnes of CO2 saved per annum. With a conversion factor of 0.537 kg CO2/kWh - this means a project making yearly electricity savings of 13,966 kWh will be eligible for the minimum loan amount £3,000.

Does your business qualify? - the scheme is open to all businesses who:
  • Have been trading for more than 12 months
  • Have a suitable credit rating
  • Have less than 250 employees
  • Have an annual turnover lower than £42.5m or an asset value less than £36.5m
  • Are not more than 25% owned by a parent non-SME company

How long does the process take?

A decision in principle in the 0% loan can be made within 24 hours but there are several verification stages to go through befor the loan can be granted. Immediately following the formal loan application, the whole process could take about 4-6 weeks. One of the process stages involves having the details verified by an independent energy saving assessor. Additional delays may occur if details have to be revised or if information is missing from the loan application.
