The proposal - Green Business Light was approached by the site manager of a food production facility which used older metal halide low bay lighting on the production floor. He was looking for a new lighting system that would reduce energy consumption, keep the high qualiy white light and, crucially, require minimum maintenance (as the 10,000 square metre site was looking to move to 24 hour operation and the existing system required several out-of-hours bulb changes every month).
What we did - Green Business Light arranged a visit and survey from three specialist factory lighting suppliers who provided "fit-and-forget" industrial lighting solutions. As part of a detailed package of proposals they designed the lighting schemes, worked out the energy & carbon & savings and provided a demonstration unit for a trial period so that the quality of the light could be assessed
The outcome - The new induction lighting system lowered the energy consumption of the existing lighting system by 52%. The uneven distribution of light experienced with the old system was resolved , a near-daylight quality of light was achieved and the induction lamp lasting 100,000 hours the expense and disruption of maintenance was virtually eliminated.
