THREE things to know about LED lighting!

1 - Not all LED lighting fixtures are equal!
The headline benefits of LED lights do make them an attractive energy saving proposition. However, the LED lighting industry is young, with not yet fully developed standards. Many inferior quality products could damage the reputation of LEDs as a viable light source.

2 - Some LEDs will not give the light quality you need!
The higher the light fixture mounting height, the harder that LED components need to work to produce acceptable illumination levels. LED fixtures can be programmed to produce this higher light level but possibly at the expense of the operational lifetime. The design of the light fixture is key - poor quality imported products allow the LED components to overheat and expire well before the claimed lifetimes.

3 - LEDs have a cost premium
Presently there are only a few industrial LED lights which can produce adequate illumination levels at high-bay fixture mounting heights and provide claimed 50000 hour+ lifetimes. A good quality industrial LED light fixture will have a high capital cost but minimum running and maintenance costs. However, unless you work with a supplier who fully understands the requirements of high/low bay lighting - the price tag is still no firm guarantee of obtaining the claimed performance and lifetime.
